Movement Identification Guide
Things to check for:
- Remove your old movement
- Accurately measure the shaft length in mm.
- there are generally 4-6 basic sizes of movement available and your movement will generally fall into one of the sizes available between 9-31mm in length, if you movement is an odd measurement then the way round it is to simply go for the longer length shaft that is as close to your required measurement and put a spacer in between the movement and clock dial to give the required length you need.
- What is the shaft type.
There are a few different types of shaft available with the most common being the Roundshaft (non Euroshaft) or Euroshaft.
A Roundshaft will have a full circle shaft tip and hands that are press fitted.
A Euroshaft will have part flat sides on the tip that the minute hand slots onto. This is then held on the shaft by a small nut. Euroshaft movements require Euroshaft hands.
- Select the correct hands:
Please note that all hand measurements given in our listings are for the minute hand only. To find out what size you need measure the clock face (dial) from the centre of the hole to where you prefer the minute hand to end in mm and then select the specific hands from our listings.
